We are the caretakers of Ottawa’s documentary history, with a focus on preserving the records of its civic government and documenting the accomplishments of its Citizens.  We also make these records accessible, encouraging the exploration of our shared past.

The Strutt Foundation was established in 2008 following the death of James W. Strutt, by his family, friends, and colleagues, and was incorporated as Fondation STRUTT Foundation in 2013 as a Canadian not-for-profit organization.

The Friends of the City of Ottawa Archives (FCOA) is a voluntary non-profit association that supports the Archives in protecting and sharing materials relating to Ottawa’s remarkable history.

Haunted Walks walking tours present the city the way it was meant to be seen – up close and on foot. None of our stories are exaggerated and several years of research have gone into each tour. Our tours and stories are second to none!

Heritage Ottawa is an organization of dedicated volunteers who are committed to promoting the appreciation and conservation of built heritage in Ottawa and the National Capital Region.

House History Ottawa specializes in research and writing of house, neighbourhood, and family histories and contributes to other projects, e.g. heritage designations.

Jane’s Walk is a festival of free neighbourhood walking tours that help put people in touch with their city, the things that happen around them, the built environment, the natural environment, and especially with each other.  Jane’s Walk bridges social and geographic gaps and creates a space for cities to discover themselves.  The walks are given by local people who care passionately about where they live, work, and play. Jane’s Walk is a pedestrian-focused event that improves urban literacy by offering insights into local history, planning, design, and civic engagement through the simple act of walking and observing.

Know History provides historical services – which means that they help individuals and organizations that want to research, present or document the past.  They have worked with museums, government bodies, Aboriginal organizations, non-profits, and corporations on a variety of projects both large and small.  Since the company’s founding they have completed more than 100 projects for clients across Canada.
