Created in 2007 by the City of Ottawa’s Museum Sustainability Plan, the Ottawa Museum Network supports and promotes Ottawa’s 11 community museums.

Through advocacy, professional development and programming, OMIC’s mandate is to embed music into the fabric of the city allowing artists, fans, and workers to grow.

We are a rug hooking group based in Ottawa, Ontario with members from across the Ottawa Valley and into Western Quebec. We’ve been meeting regularly since our first meeting on January 20, 1977, almost 50 years ago.

Members are optionally individually affiliated with the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild (OHCG) and Ottawa Olde Forge Rug Hooking is recognized as an OHCG branch within Area 1. OHCG provides a connection to rug hooking throughout the province of Ontario and Western Quebec.

Our members hook and punch needle in a wide range of styles using a variety of backings. They also incorporate other fibre arts — for example, felting and embroidery — into their pieces.

Ottawa Olde Forge Rug Hooking usually hosts a hook-in in the spring of each year. The event attracts rug hookers and punch needlers from across the region, and beyond.

For more than 18 years, the Ottawa Regional Heritage Fair volunteer committee has been working in partnership with educators, the historical, heritage and museum communities to host a bilingual Fair that brings together youth from across the Ottawa region.

The Pinheys’ Point Foundation is a voluntary non-profit organisation responsible for collections, exhibits and research at Horaceville, the historic house at Pinhey’s Point Historic Site, a City of Ottawa property.

Nestled on the banks of the Ottawa River approximately 40 minutes west of downtown, Pinhey’s Point features a nearly 200-year-old manor house and surrounding ruins and is an Ontario Heritage Trust site.
